Previously, Cottle worked at Raychem Corporation as division counsel before being promoted to vice president, general counsel and secretary of the company. She served as business litigation partner and associate at the law firm of Farella, Braun and Martel and clerked for the United States District Court, Northern District of California.
She is a member of the California and Utah state bars and holds both a juris doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in government from Pomona College.
